MISSION STATEMENT

Bridge to the Nations



People in Asia who have been helped by Volunteers with BTTN.Bridge To The Nations is a nonprofit (501(c)(3)) international outreach organization organized for charitable purposes. All benefits and services are furnished without regard to a person’s race, color, sex, creed, or national or ethnic origin.

OUR MISSION IS:

(1) International medical outreach for the poor and underprivileged as necessary to provide adequate healthcare for daily life and to improve current health care available to residents, in underdeveloped and developing countries. This includes the following activities:

Coordinate volunteer health care professionals and other volunteers to furnish direct health care services (i.e., surgical, medical and dental services) in the destination countries, and help educate heath care providers in the destination country with the goal of assisting to raise the standards of health care services available to residents.

Patient-level health education, with focus on assisting to them to handle their health needs within the means of their own culture.

Prepare buildings that will be used as charitable medical and dental clinics.

Obtain donations of dental/medical equipment and supplies for shipment to a qualified consignee for charitable use in dental/medical clinics.

Install medical equipment, by qualified professionals, to begin charitable clinics.

(2) Humanitarian relief for outreach programs such as orphanages, and for other impoverished persons.

(3) Education of health care providers and patients, and sponsor volunteers to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) and other disciplines to help impoverished and under-educated persons qualify for meaningful employment.


STANDARDS, CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES:

Services will be furnished primarily to assist with efforts of nonprofit organizations in the destination countries, such as social foundations.

Countries of destination are chosen based upon economic and medical need. Most countries chosen will have an average income per person (i.e., gross national product divided by population) of $4000 or less, and the standards of health care are inferior to those of the United States.

Projects are undertaken based upon the express request of consignees in the destination country, and after consultation with applicable health care professionals in the United States. Currently, our organization has a consultation relationship with physicians, pharmacists and dentists.

Consignees will be chosen based upon their proven track record in providing charitable services to populations in need, and must be qualified by the destination country’s government as an authorized consignee of the relief cargo to be furnished.
